For the last 20 years it’s been my job to help forge agreements between employees and employers - without compromising my values or the priorities of the people I represent. I’ve fought for working people against corporate power.
This work requires listening, patience, persistence, and a spine.
It’s been great training for getting things done in Washington.
we can do better than this. We ARE better than this.
We need a congressman who gets up every morning burning with energy to fight for what’s right, not point their finger at someone else to blame.
A congressman who is not absent without leave. Who is not afraid to talk with his constituents, even when they disagree with him – particularly when they disagree with them.
I am nothing if not relentless. I never stop.
It can be hard to watch the news these days.
Each day seems to grow darker and darker.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Each of us adds to that light. Together, we form a beacon. A beacon of hope in the face of fear, a beacon of peace in the face of violence, a beacon of solidarity in the face of division.
My name will be on that ballot next year and my children will know where I stood when the fundamentals of our democracy were tested.
